The iPhone X

Ten years ago, Apple changed the world with its phenomenal iPhone. Over the last ten years, Apple has refined and tweaked its iPhone into what it is today: the iPhone X.

The iPhone X, pronounced the ‘iPhone 10’, is the tenth anniversary iPhone featuring an OLED edge-to-edge display and Face ID. The iPhone X is slightly taller than the iPhone 8 but much narrower and smaller than the iPhone 8 Plus. It’s gorgeous and is the biggest change to the iPhone Apple has made in years.

Apple’s $1,000 smartphone has no home button and is completed with facial recognition software, and new AR emojis you can control with your face inside iMessage.

Apple CEO Tim Cook said on stage “The first iPhone revolutionized a decade of technology,” “Now 10 years later it is only fitting that we are here in this place on this day to reveal a product that will set the path for technology for the next decade.”

Specs and Features

The iPhone X has a Super Retina display which measures 5.8-inch diagonally and has a 2,436-by-1,135 pixel resolution. The phone has no home button so you’ll wake up the phone by simply tapping the screen.

The iPhone X arrives with facial recognition features which will also work in the dark and in real time, whether you’re wearing glasses or other accessories that may obscure the face. The Face ID feature can’t be spoofed by photographs, and will work with Apple Pay and third-party apps. This feature is powered by a multi-optical system that includes an infrared camera, a dot projector and an ambient light sensor. This Face ID allows users to unlock the phone by looking at it.

The iPhone X is powered by A11 bionic chips with six cores, can be 70 per cent faster than the previous A10 chip. The phone is also equipped with a new accelerometer and gyroscope, tuning for ARKit, and is available with either 64 or 256GB of storage.

Camera

The iPhone X is equipped with dual 12 megapixel cameras and dual-optical image stabilization. It means that both cameras will be less susceptible to visual errors in shaky hands. The 7 megapixel TrueDepth camera powers the Face ID on the phone allowing users to enjoy a new feature called Animoji, a 3D emoji that can mimic your facial expressions. You can use and send Animoji in the Messages app.

The dual-lens camera on the back of the iPhone X has f1.8 wide angle lens and an f/2.4 aperture telephoto lens. Both lenses support optical image stabilization and have some improvements.

Wireless charging

The phone supports wireless charging. With the AirPower charger, you will be able to charge the iPhone X, Apple Watch and AirPods at the same time and distribute the power evenly. Unfortunately this charger is not available just yet. But don’t worry, you can still charge your iPhone X wirelessly with Qi charger available on the market.

Color options

The iPhone X is available in gray and silver finishes. There’s no gold, rose gold, no jet black or red. No matter which iPhone X you get, the fronts are all the same, which is a glass front. The back of the iPhone X is surrounded by shiny stainless steel bands.

Price

The 64GB iPhone X is priced at $999, while the 256GB model is priced at $1,199.
